Even as the State of Emergency continues, the Town of Bancroft is slowly returning to normal. Town Staff are returning to their regular duties in addition to continuing to monitor the river. The town is beginning to plan for the Recovery phase.  Millennium Park and its bridge are closed as are Churchill and Riverside Parks, but the Freedom Skateboard Park will be opened for the weekend.  Residents are cautioned, however, to stay away from all barricaded areas as the y are still unsafe. Bronson Road remains closed from Quarry Road east to the other side of the bridge. The removal of sandbags from the downtown area will begin on Monday. The NERDS Class from North Hastings High School have offered their help in this task. The Town will be looking for volunteers to help with sand bag removal and other cleanup activities. Those wishing to help are asked to contact the town office at 613 332 3331 to register your names.

As the Town of Bancroft begins to scale down its emergency actions and moves into the recovery phase, the staff has been able to assist the Brudenell area with their flooding by providing just over 600 sandbags that are no longer needed in Bancroft. The town has also begun to prepare information for citizens to cope with the clean-up. That information will be available on the town website and at the town office. After a brief inspection by Fire Chief Pat Hoover and Works Supervisor Perry Kelly, the Club 580 has been given the go ahead to re-open.

Bancroft, ON Daryl Kramp, Member of Parliament for Prince Edward-Hastings announced he met with Officials on Friday in town as weather conditions began to deteriorate in North Hastings and is currently keeping apprised on the situation.

I understand that the Town of Bancroft is keeping under the State of Emergency but pleased to hear there seems to be some stability with water levels.

We are relieved that Hastings St. was reopened to all traffic yesterday and businesses can carry on as normal.

The Town of Bancroft has opened a reception area for residents in case assistance is required.

I understand that the Emergency Management Team has and is working hard and cooperatively to ensure the safety of our residents.

I would like to praise the great cooperation between all Municipal Staff, OPP, Fire Department and other emergency providers to ensure our residents and businesses were provided with sandbags, assistance, etc.

I remain vigilant as water is moving very quickly and there are still some areas of concern in Carlow Mayo, Hastings Highland and Bancroft.

Our community leaders and volunteers are to be commended for their quick response to this urgent situation.
